Processing

The Top Gold yellow kiwi owes its uniqueness to a multitude of different flavors and aromas compared to all other varieties available currently. This is due to a high dry matter content of up to 23%, a high sugar content (not rarely above 20 degrees brix) and a creamy flesh reminiscent of the flesh of a mango. Added to this is the unique and complex flavor, mixed between the exotic on the inside and the lemon around the peel on the outside of the pulp, that offsets the high sugar content, giving the Top Gold yellow kiwi a set of excellent flavors and characteristics.

To achieve a level of production quality and protect the variety from bacterial aggression now endemic in the area, Top Gold yellow kiwi should be produced with a plastic cover. With this precaution, the plant is protected from the weather and especially from rain and excessive humidity, which also allows the creation of a microclimate that replaces the treatments commonly used.

The Top Gold yellow kiwi is an easy variety to pollinate, with pollinating insects, such as bees and drones, being attracted to both females and males, thus favoring a natural pollination that guarantees quality and size consideration without particular additional precautions.

The harvest must be done delicately so as not to damage the peel of the fruit, which, compared to other varieties, is more sensitive to manual and mechanical damage.

Currently the first batches of yellow kiwi available are processed at Kiwilife following the quality protocol for packaging of the Top Gold "Always Sweeter"brand. The product that will be distributed in Portugal by Kiwilife and in other countries by Top Gold Srl, exclusive holder of the concession.
